A Minor Car Accident – Should I Get a Medical Checkup?

Many car accidents are considered minor, and you may not feel you were injured other than the damage to your automobile. However, sometimes the adrenaline that accompanies such accidents can mask, for a short time anyway, minor injuries you may suffer.

You may not be feeling any pain at the time of the accident, but a few days later your neck hurts, or you’re having unexplained headaches. These things can manifest even days after your wreck.

Even if it is a few days later, one of the first things you should do is get medical treatment. Without proof of an injury, there is no way to make a claim with your insurance company. Waiting a few days will not prevent you from having the right to file a claim. Obviously, the longer you wait to get treated the more adversely that may affect your case.

There are time limits in which to file a lawsuit; personal injury suits must be filed within two years from the date of your accident. There are also time limitations in certain policies, and other details to consider, such as an Uninsured Motorist policy. Do you have that?
